The Challenge
After a 4 year run with their old website, Kim Bartlett Master Jewellers needed to refresh their online experience. The challenge was to create an elegant website that reflected the custom, handmade aspect of this unique business while incorporating an online store without hindering design or speed.
Our Approach
The previous website featured a dark colour scheme, but this time we wanted to emphasize the understated elegance of the work and to open up the site for an uncluttered feel. To achieve this we used plenty of white space and softer colours. Another primary focus of the website was social media so we placed an Instagram feed towards to top of the site content to ensure a fresh feel every time the site is visited. Promotion panels were added to give the client retail advertising capabilities, though they are handled in a way that ensures they are visually secondary to the handcrafted work.
To ensure the shop didn’t slow the main site down, we incorporated it as a separate installed site. This gave both the main site and shop the ability to operate independently using separate resources. This simple solution executes the required functionality while maintaining load times for a better user experience.
With recent ring photos front and centre on the home page, the user instantly gets a taste of the extraordinary quality and variety of work produced by this amazing studio.
